The Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, which tests the knowledge of the viewer, will be empty if you go on a weekday during the snow season.

JapanesePlaces

The dinosaur museum in Fukui Prefecture is very crowded, but I went there on a weekday when snow tires are a must.

Access from the Nagoya area is not very convenient.

If you come from the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway, you will have to drive for a long time on the Ununeune Road along the river, and the recently opened National Route 417 route at Lake Tokuyama will be a winding road for an even longer time. There is also a high risk of snow.

It would be easiest to go by taking a long detour from the west.

The surrounding area is truly a silver world.

It’s inconvenient and increases the risk, but there are views that can only be seen during the snowy season.

The area is quite large, so if you want to enjoy the surrounding facilities, come first in the morning. When I went, some of the roads hadn’t even been plowed.

By the way, the road is covered in snow melting agent. The car was unbelievably dirty.

Be sure to include the cost of the undercarriage car wash course at the drive-through car wash or the physical strength to thoroughly wash your car after returning home.

I was a little nervous about the morning, so I bought a ticket online for an hour after the museum opened.

There was no particular guidance given, and no one seemed to start moving at 11 o’clock.

If it was a very empty time when the parking lot was less than 30% full, it would have been possible to get in even before the entrance time, but there was no information about the entrance time. Not sure when it’s crowded.

About the building

As soon as you enter, take a long elevator down to the basement.

You can enjoy the power of the opening of an epic 3D science fiction game.

Isn’t the person who designed this flow line the reincarnation of God?

This is an exhibition on the wall of an underground tunnel.

It begins with a recreation of the actual excavation conditions.

And this plaza. A dream space that feels like the embodiment of an Animal Crossing museum.

There are plates with explanations for each fossil and reproduction models, so it’s fun to compare them.

I thought, “Why does something like this grow on the spine???? It just increases the projected area and makes it easier for natural enemies to find me.” Then I realized that it apparently plays a role in dissipating heat and collecting sunlight when you feel cold. It was written.

It’s educational because the exhibit is designed to “understand once again the process of evolution from the beginning of the Earth’s history.”

Not only dinosaurs but also plants are carefully explained. Although not many people read it seriously, it is not impossible to say that the plants on Earth today are actually survivors of the dinosaur era.

The exhibits on the internal structure of dinosaurs are also interesting.

The structure is such that the hallway detours around a room that looks like a storage room, but it is designed so that you won’t get bored looking at it.

An annex where no one comes.

The new hall near the storage room doesn’t have a lot of exhibits considering it’s a short walk, but I’d like you to come and check it out.

About the time required (maximum 2 hours even for adults?)

If you just look around and walk around, it will take about 15 to 30 minutes.

You can read the text on the exhibition, eat at a restaurant, participate in a tour or various activities, watch a movie at the theater, or just sit and relax.

In my case, I read a fair amount of the exhibit information, walked everywhere I could, and even though I took lots of photos, an hour and a half . I was out after

It’s a very vivid and beautiful space, but it’s not that large in terms of area .

How much you can enjoy it and how much you can understand it depends on your education and attitude towards learning.

About rest areas and vending machines

The exhibits are densely packed (?), so it doesn’t take long to get tired and go to a resting place.

If only I knew the place…

Check the price in the vending machine space.

Due to photography constraints, I can’t see the exact prices, but they were lined up for about 140 to 150 yen. It’s not that extremely expensive.

There are also a few exhibits in the back of the rest room, so it’s fun to look for them.

About the museum shop

I took a closer look at the museum shop, and found that the overall product lineup was aimed at children.

Dinosaurs that can be placed directly on the table.

At the entrance there are medals and gacha machines.

I went there expecting to find something like the 230,000 yen battleship Yamato model that was at the Yamato Museum, but there were not many high-priced, high-quality products.

About the surrounding area

I went there without looking into the details, but there are dinosaur figurines placed at nearby roadside stations and facilities.
