The C40 Recharge will blow your mind with its stable speed and maneuverability, similar to the SUV version of the electric GT-R.

Cars

I thought it was just a coupe electric SUV, but it turns out to be an extremely fast mobile suit that has the same driving performance and driving stability as the GT-R, and can use its tire grip with confidence on public roads.

While its 600Nm of torque will astonish everyone, it will also impress enthusiasts with its overwhelming stability and controllability. The C40 Recharge is a high-tech fighter jet that looks like it came from the future.

exterior

Unlike the XC40, which looked like a compact crossover, the tail end is completely flat.

This is XC40. If you look at it this way, the tail line begins to curve between the first and second rows, so completely different frames . you can see that both cars are built with

It goes without saying that the platform is shared, but it’s surprisingly costly!

When you look at the real thing up close, you can see that it is extremely elaborately constructed. It’s like a work of art.

The level of art is comparable to that of Mazda’s design team, with features such as the beautifully illuminated taillights lined with LEDs, the shape of the trunk spoiler that splits into two, the perforated roof end spoiler, and the hidden high-mounted stop lamp. She is showing off her sexuality and is admired.

It neatly captures the roofline extending from the front and harmonizes with the horizontal design of the rear. As someone who visited the museum on this trip, I was impressed by the artistry.

The interior is not much different from the XC40.

The big difference is the shift knob. It is crystal shaped. In the XC40 it was just plastic.

This shift knob is probably also compatible with the XC40, so it could be replaced by taking apart the center console.

If you are already riding an XC40 and feel jealous, there is a possibility that you can replace it later.

Another difference is that the glass roof does not open on the C40.

embedded glass. A smoke film is pasted, perhaps for UV protection or insulation. The midsummer heat seems to be easing, but the view from the glass roof has turned muddy.

Furthermore, you can hardly see the view of the glass roof from the driver’s seat.

Actual driving impression (compared with XC40 Recharge)

The day before I rode this car, I rode an XC40 Recharge.

In the article I wrote at that time, I reported on the general driving feeling, so this time I will write about the differences with the C40.

About ride comfort

My legs are extremely stiff. The car body also sways depending on the differences in the road surface.

However, once you get used to it, it’s not unbearably hard.

Handling/manoeuvrability

Handling has become more stable.

The moment you cut, the roll converges and it bends while remaining flat.

Neutral steering with no feeling of undercut.

It’s insanely fast, but it’s not just fast, it’s extremely stable.

A sense of control and outstanding stability are maintained even during sudden acceleration.

During cornering under heavy load, when the four wheels rattle over bumps at different times, there is a momentary movement that seems to cause the car to lose its balance.

However, other than that, there are no disadvantages in terms of driving stability as an SUV.

It’s just amazing that it’s within this level despite having heavy 20-inch tires and a high minimum ground clearance.

Overwhelming controllability and stability combined with speed.

It has real torque and feels like a luxury car, but passengers are likely to complain about the stiffness of the legs.

Furthermore, the front tire grip is excellent and downhill riding is not scary.

It’s obviously more reliable during deceleration than the XC40, but it seems like it’s wearing the same tires. I wonder if the suspension alone can make that much of a difference in movement…

This is a topic that I personally would like to do additional research on.

Comparison with XC40 Recharge

Simply put, the C40 is an SUV version of the electric GT-R with a coupe look.

On the other hand, the XC40 focuses on comfort and overall performance. The XC40 is also more than fast enough, but there are times when it feels slightly unstable in the high load range because the parameters are adjusted for comfort.

Both are good cars. You have the fun of choosing, for example, “The C40’s wheels are too hard,” “I want the sunroof to open, so I’m going with the XC40,” or “I want to provide a comfortable ride for my passengers, so I’m going with the XC40.”
